Description

The 50 States Stitching Club is an embroidery and quilting project honoring each of the states in the union, as well as paying homage to state embroidery patterns, American quilts, and kitschy state souvenirs.

Each of the fifty nifty United States is represented with a tiny embroidery pattern with things like animals, flowers, historical items, landmarks and a few silly things too...all in the Wild Olive style!

With the 50 motifs, you'll create a lap quilt, plus four smaller projects. You can work at your own pace, and with just a bit of stitching each week, you'll be able to complete everything in a year.

The big quilt project is made up of stars and stripes (it felt wrong to do anything else), but that doesn't mean that this is a flag quilt. Take a look at a few of the fabrics I'm using and I think you'll see that it doesn't look super patriotic. I like to think of these fabric choices as something that a 1940s farmer's wife might have used to make her own American quilt. You can, of course, make it however you like.

You will use a combination of English paper piecing and traditional quilting.

In addition to the main quilt project, you will receive four smaller bonus projects. They are: pennants, ornaments, dish towels, and a table cloth (this one uses giant versions of the patterns!), and all are meant to recall classic souvenirs.

Complete instructions with plenty of photos are included in the PDFs. And if you need any help along the way, I'm available to assist! You may also find it helpful to search online (especially on Instagram) for #50StatesStitching so you can see what others have made before you.

***IMPORTANT***

When you purchase the club membership you will receive the bonus projects as an immediate download. The main quilt and pattern file is too large to send via Etsy, so you will receive a separate email via HighTail with the main file.

After completing the 50 States Stitching Club, here's what one member had to say:

"I have absolutely LOVED this project ... from learning fun facts about the states, to the mix of embroidery and sewing. ... I am just thrilled to have an heirloom craft with a story; I will just treasure this quilt forever."

******

I hope you'll join me on this trip across the 50 States! After all, this club was made for you and me!
