Description

This is an original acrylic painting on stretched canvas with a width of 22" and a height of 28"

Death is an incredibly remote concept. It’s something that is guaranteed to happen to each and every one of us and yet so few of us have tried to imagine what it feels like. It seems morbid but since no one ever reports back to us, why not think about what it’s actually like: What does it feel like to not feel anything? What will the world be like without any more actions from me? All recent actions will become the final pages of the story instead of just another chapter.

That’s scary. But also definitely going to happen.

What if, instead of shelving the pain that these thoughts bring, I embrace them and accept that life is fleeting. What if I try to experience it – all of it – with dignity and poise, at least as much poise as I can muster? I find so much of what ‘we’ humans do now is some version of running away from something. What happens if I start with death and let that breath life into these mundane techno-filled pseudo-interactions among avatars? Maybe I’ll experience the real people underneath and they’ll experience the real me, for better or for worse.

Prints of this painting will be available as well and will be on 11" x 14" strong, tree-free paper.

Depending on buyer's location, shipping costs can be eliminated and painting hand delivered.
