These fun durable little balls are clean, carded, new wool, felted over a small golf whiffle ball with a bell inserted for jingle noise. They are approximately 2.5 inches in diameter.

I have had friends store their ball in a bag of catnip for those cats that like it. Another had a problem with them rolling under the sofa so she sewed a long piece of yarn to the ball so she could pull it back out. Frankly my cat would rather play with the bigger balls. He likes to capture them and roll over on his back with the ball on his stomach and kick. There is no predicting cats!

One of my customers sent me the wonderful pic of her cat "Indy" playing with a new felt ball and gave me permission to use the pic here

This listing is for a single ball, although I have several different colors

Please let me know which color you would prefer before you buy or allow me to choose.

General information...Woolly Balls

I have been making and selling felted wool balls for over 10 years and coining the name “Woolly Balls” for them has produced a great deal of fun at art fairs. 99 % of the people who pass my booth giggle and then stop to touch. Wool is so tactile and the balls are very enticing. The best comment came recently from a man who remarked to his friend “poor little Woollies.” When people cock their heads and ask what they are I innocently reply “They’re balls.” This usually elicits a smile and a conversation.

I have sold them to dog and cat owners who have come back year after year for more. My felt balls are more durable than a tennis ball and they are machine washable.

I have sold them to jugglers, as stress balls, as exercise balls, as just throwing around balls. One customer bought 12 of them to take to a corporate meeting he was presiding over. He was going to hand them out to everyone. I had a woman buy one to use to roll up and down between her back and the wall for a strength exercise. I had one customer spend three years picking out different colored balls to put in a large basket. They make excellent pincushions as well and I use them myself.

The balls are initially dry felted by needle then wet-felted in the washing machine. I put them through a rigorous agitation and wash at least three times.
