Description

The Old Man Of The Mountain, by Allan Seager
Simon & Schuster, 1950
Hardcover
Book Condition: Good-
Dust Jacket Condition: Fair
Edition: First

An unusual and apparently quite scarce early book by this noted writer, recently the object of much attention. There is a fountain pen inscription from Seager to admirers on the first endsheet. The writing is what looks to me like neat Spencerian hand. While this little hardcover, is essentially sound and possesses a good bit of aged charm, it has some flaws. The book is quarter bound with gray cloth at spine and green paper balance. There is some bumped edge abrasion, and a light brownish stain at spine foot. Text is unmarked, some age darkening at edges.
Jacket has many chips, much creasing and soiling are present, with soil to white back panel especially heavy. In spite of its flaws, the jacket still adds nicely to the item. The jacket is preserved in a new mylar wrapper.
Edition identifiers: NAP and no asterisks per McBride, first edition, jacket price $3.00.
