Item details

Handmade item

paper, ribbon, and sixpence, organza

Do you know someone getting married soon? Give her the gift of good fortune with this unique keepsake to put in her shoe on her wedding day.

This vintage sixpence coin is secured in a tiny handmade gray envelope and attached to a card with the well-known phrase listed below. This item comes in a classic gray organza bag. The last general issue sixpence(also known as a half-shilling) was issued in 1967, so they are becoming more scarce and difficult to find.

A common tradition for brides is to wear a sixpence in her left shoe to bring her and her future husband good fortune. The well-known phase goes like this:

Something old, something new,
Something borrowed, something blue,
And a silver sixpence for her shoe.

Ships in a gift box, ready to be given as a bridal gift or kept for yourself.

Please note that the 3rd photo is not the actual sixpence you will receive, it's simply to show a close-up of one style of coin design.
