Description

The following is from an Obituary in the New York Times:

ALFIERI--Philip S.,88 years old, of Rego Park, NY died on Friday April 10, 2009 at Park Manor in Bloomfield. Philip was born in Rochester, NY and lived in Newark and in Queens for the last 55 years. He was a professional painter and portrait artist. Philip was a member of the Arts Students League of NYC.

Measurements: 24-3/4" x 15-1/4", This is an older lithograph, most likely from the 60's but could be a little earlier. I 've had this retro framed art work for sometime now. I bought it at auction a good time back. It is a lithographic print of a NYC street scene.

I did some checking and it seems there aren't a lot of these out there. The ones I found are rather scarce and the price for these lithographs are averaging around $150. The frame shows some wear, nicks to wood and age etc. Measurements: 24-3/4" x 15-1/4",

This is a New York City Street Scene mid-century Summertime. The pictures it paints we have seen in many a movie over the years. A simple understated frame seems to work just as well. The back of frame reads: Henry B. Sandler Co., INC., Oriental Art Shop.

One of the definitions of Impressionism: a style or movement in painting originating in France in the 1860s, characterized by a concern with depicting the visual impression of the moment, especially in terms of the shifting effect of light and color. ALFIERI does that particularly well.
