As with most of my paper products, the surface of this piece displays an example of Turkish style paper marbling. The technique is Turkish, but the pattern is European, most likely French or German. The pattern represented is the French curl, a motif dating back to the mid 1600s. This pattern is composed of evenly arranged “snails” with their centers spaced at 1 1/2” apart. This spacing is seen on many French curls spanning the 1800s. While the pattern and its size has historical precedence, the color pallet on this book mark is a modern variation.

This book mark measures 1 1/2” wide x 6 1/2” long, has a 6” string to extend its location beyond the pages of your book, and is constructed to withstand years of service.
