An excellent example of an early 20th century dark blue enamel water bottle / canteen with its original cork stopper, as used by British commonwealth troops during WWI and thereafter. There are some numbers underneath including '1953' which my research tells me is not a date (as this piece is surely a lot earlier), but perhaps some type of serial numbers.
Condition: good used condition with age-related wear such as chips and minor rusty patina, however, this lovely canteen retains 95% of its original colour. The cork is cracked through age although can be safely removed and replaced.
