Description

This pattern is the Babel Fish entry from Douglas Adams’ ‘The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy’, inspired by Rod Lord’s animations for the 1981 BBC television adaptation.

*** This listing is for a cross stitch pattern via instant download, not for the completed sampler ***

Some people may love the movie, some may prefer the books or the radio series, but my heart (of gold) belongs to the TV series version of HHGTTG. Ford and Arthur were two of the very first peg people I ever made and when I started cross stitching from my own patterns, the Babel Fish was the first thing I ever created :)

“Meanwhile the poor Babel fish, by effectively removing all barriers to communication between different cultures and races, has caused more and bloodier wars than anything else in the history of creation.”

--------------------------------------

Fabric: 14 count Aida (black)
Grid Size: 134W x 100H
Design Area: 8.14" x 5.57" (114 x 78 stitches)
Frame: The third picture shows the design framed in a 20 x 25 cm frame – it’s a Ribba from Ikea :)

The pattern includes thread numbers for DMC and Anchor.

No fancy stitches or french knots here - just standard cross stitches and back stitch.

This is an instant download PDF pattern. Once your payment has been received, the pattern will be available to download from your Etsy downloads page or though https://www.etsy.com/your/purchases/

You will need Adobe or some other form of PDF reader to view the file. Adobe Reader is available for free at http://get.adobe.com/reader

If you’d prefer to buy everything you need to create this design in one easy step, the kit version is available here - https://www.etsy.com/listing/216870877/babel-fish-cross-stitch-kit-hitchhikers

FAQs

If you’re buying a kit as a gift and would like it wrapped and sent directly to the recipient, make sure the recipient's address is used as the shipping address and in the “Note to seller” box in your shopping cart tell me any required message.

If no message is specified, I will just attach the automatic Etsy gift slip (which says "A gift for you - enjoy! From [customer's name]".

I won't include any prices in the gift itself, but Customs forms do require the type of item and the value to be written on the package. If you want it to be a complete secret, consider addressing the package to another person in the household!

[Note: I cannot mark the Customs form as "gift" to avoid any Customs fees, as that is illegal.]
All patterns are digital PDFs – available for instant download.

If you need help, have a look at Etsy support page about downloading digital files: https://www.etsy.com/ca/help/article/3949

You will need Adobe or some other form of PDF reader to view the file.

You can see when your order was shipped by visiting: https://www.etsy.com/your/purchases

If you need your order rushed out by a certain date, please let me know BEFORE you place your order and I’ll let you know if it is possible.

Shipping will be combined if you make multiple purchases from the RandomlyGenerated Etsy store.

Please be sure to enter your correct shipping address for purchases. In the event that Etsy and PayPal show two different addresses, your package will be shipped to the Etsy address.
* Canada – Lettermail (CanadaPost estimates 2-4 business days). You can upgrade to registered mail for an additional fee.
* United States – Small Packet USA Airmail (CanadaPost estimates 5-8 business days).
* Everywhere else – Small Packet International Airmail (CanadaPost estimates 6-10 business days).

Items are posted from Canada using CanadaPost and tracking numbers are NOT included as standard. If you do require a tracking number, please let me know BEFORE you place your order and I will adjust your shipping cost.

I'm based in British Columbia (Canada), so please factor in the waiting times. Shipping internationally can take longer than expected, depending on the country / any customs delays.
Please note that your country may charge additional customs / import fees, which I can’t control!

In particular, UK buyers should be aware that any goods imported into the UK over the value of £15 are subject to import VAT of 20%, plus a Royal Mail handling fee of £8, which is mental! Unfortunately, the Customs fee isn’t something that sellers can pay in advance – Royal Mail assess parcels as they enter the country and charge the person receiving the item.

[Note: I cannot mark the Customs form as "gift" to avoid any Customs fees, as that is illegal.]
Please don’t sell or copy any of my patterns, but you're more than welcome to sell your finished cross stitch – just make sure to credit www.randomlygenerated.ca with the design!
Please contact me to discuss your wholesale requirements - either via Etsy convo or by email at hello@randomlygenerated.ca
It's that time of year again – last posting dates for Christmas! Obviously, you can keep buying digital patterns whenever you want, but the cross stitch kits won’t be posted after these dates:

December 1 – United Kingdom, Europe, Australia & New Zealand
December 10 – United States & Canada

And try to get your orders in ASAP to avoid disappointment, as CanadaPost can't guarantee delivery by Christmas.
