Unicorn Necklace Beadweaving
This necklace was created for the " Scotland, the Brave" In doing research for symbols and items that represent Scotland, I learned that the Unicorn is the national animal of Scotland. You are probably thinking, like me, but Unicorns are not real? In a land so rich with myths and legends, I guess the Unicorn is the perfect animal! Not to mention, who doesn't love unicorns?
This piece was created mostly with embroidery backstitch, it is on an oval shaped background. I chose white beads for the unicorn, of course, gold lined beads for the horn and ivory gold luster for the mane. All are beautiful Miyuki seed beads. The background is two shades of aqua to represent a beautiful Scottish sky. Lastly, my unicorn is surrounded with a vine of thistle to add more Scottish flair. The piece has ultrasuede backing, and is finished with clear AB miyuki seed beads which also make the double strand necklace. Total length is 22" and has a silver plated lobster claw clasp.
