Description

This furoshiki is one in a series of twelve designs featuring a mischievous cat named Tama, who loves heading out on her own and discovering new places.

Tama is a very common name for kitties in Japan. Here, she snoozes under a 'kotatsu', a low table with a heating element underneath and a blanket to retain the heat that's s fixture in Japanese homes in winter. 'Mikan' mandarin oranges like the ones on the table are typically snacked on while you warm your lower body.

It's all too easy to put your head down on a 'zabuton' cushion and fall fast asleep before you know it!

Furoshiki are traditional wrapping cloths. This one's about 50cm x 50cm(19.69" x 19.69") and is a high quality 100% cotton.

Tama seems to have an eye for beauty, because each Tama motif is a celebration of beautiful, traditional Japanese landscapes and customs. If you're a cat lover, please check out my other Tama designs. And you'll also enjoy my series of seven designs featuring a kitty named Kotaro, who seems to be a bit more sedentary than Tama, as each of his designs features him cat napping!

The rich colors and texture and size have made these smaller furoshiki quite popular for home decor and in sewing projects! They can also be used as a furoshiki to wrap small objects-please take care to measure first, allowing ample room for tying.

And good news for folks in the U.S.!

Thanks to your support our California office for domestic orders is up and running and this furoshiki is in stock.
