Description

PLEASE NOTE; This is considered an over-sized item. If the shipping costs seem too high, please send us your zip code as FedEX Ground may be less expensive.

This is a large galvanized metal gasoline can. I cannot find a date but believe it is at least circa 1950s. There are three red rings -- one around the top, one around the bottom and one around the outer top.

I filled this can with water. There are no leaks and water was clear coming out. I am not suggesting you use it, but it looks cool and would make at wonderful decoration at the least. There is not much else I can say. I have spent a good bit of time researching with no luck but my guess is this dates to the 1940s but it could be older.

This can measures 35" in circumference and is approximately 16-1/4" tall. The diameter of the bottom is 11-3/8". The paper label was removed a long time ago. There is a strong metal handle which remains tightly attached to the two metal hardware pieces on the top. This was used for gasoline storage although it is now empty.

The large cap on the center of the lid and the tiny cap on the spout are both easily removed. Although I could not budge the large cap on the sprout, that's not to say it couldn't be loosened eventually. There is a dent on the back which is shown in two different photos (to the left of the seam running down the back.) This is minor but should be mentioned for a most accurate description.
