I designed this carrier because my 5 lb. Terrier Lucy likes to be carried around and will scratch on my legs until I pick her up. I do a lot of my work carrying her around in one of these bags. She loves it and snuggles in as soon as I put her in it, going to sleep and very happy to be toted around the house all day. I love the wide straps because even 5 lbs. is a lot to carry around all day!

There are so many fabrics that will work well with this carrier -- I have made it with denim, duck cloth, and micro suede. Fleece options for the lining are huge with so many cute prints available. It's easy to find a coordinating quilting cotton for the trim as well. Designing it is the most fun ever! I keep seeing new prints and patterns I want to experiment with!

I have given you tips and tricks to make the process easier gleaned from my 30+ years of sewing everything from custom draperies to Halloween costumes. I am an experienced bag maker and once sold custom-made purses in my retail store in Arizona.

Made a tester out of old jeans to see if the puglet would like it. Went together easily. I did need to make the strap a bit longer, but the bag was for a 6' 2" person, so it could be due to the height :-) I didn't make with the edge binding. The pug did like it and snuggled down onto the pillow, so cute!

At first, it was a bit overwhelming. But after a while taking lots of breaks and taking my time, I was able to make this beauty. I'm very happy with how it turned out. I made this bag for my sister's dog, this was his bday present. Homemade is the best.

Nice pattern. I made this for a friend's tea cup Chihuahua and it's a great fit. I made this from canvas and it really needed no reinforcement.

This turned out to be a really fun project for a little chihauhau. It was really easy to make and I like all the photos and the detailed instructions. I didn't do the piping, but I did do the pockets and I added zippers, as I'm always dropping things out of my pockets that do not have zippers.
