A maiden dips her hand beneath the waters of a pond, offering a magical moonstone to the swan that calls the waters it's home. The swan approaches, offering her wondrous gifts of transformation, true beauty and mysticism in exchange. The maiden lays across a Sunstone (a stone of leadership, abundance and joy), the stone she is offering the swan is a Rainbow Moonstone (a stone of intuition and feminine empowerment). A stream flows into the pond, tumbling over an Indigo Kyanite (a stone of dreams and calm emotions). The images and flow of the water of the central section of this fantasy necklace are carried through to the side sections which depict another swan on one side and the fluid interpretation of water with a Rainbow Moonstone as accent on the other. The photography does not capture all of the details included in this magical piece of fantasy jewelry, such as the ripples of water that result from her hand reaching into the pond, the twist and flow of the maidens gown and the swans belly and legs as they paddle beneath the surface of the water. It is truly an elegant and mystical necklace to enjoy and wear.

The overall length of the Swan Maiden Necklace can be adjusted from 15-20 inches, making it very versatile for a variety of body types and necklines. The central section of the fantasy necklace is 4 inches long and 1 inch tall, each of the side sections are 2 3/4 inches long, with the swan section being 3/4 of an inch wide and the stone accent section being 1/2 of an inch wide. The Sunstone and Kyanite cabochons are each 10mm in size, the Rainbow Moonstone cabochon that the swan maiden is pushing is 8mm and the Rainbow Moonstone on the side section is 6mm in size. The necklace is assembled with jump rings that are soldered closed and high quality chain which is finished with a Kyanite and Moonstone bead.

As with all of my work this piece of fantasy jewelry was created using the lost wax method. I first start by doing a detailed drawing of my intended subject. Then I sculpt my design in wax. I start with overall shape and form, making sure all the individual pieces are proportional to each other, then adding detail which includes applying the swan's feathers one at a time. After the wax sculpture is complete it is cast in sterling silver, excess metal is removed, sections assembled and soldered together, patina applied, rough polished, stones set, then completed by a final polish. It is a time consuming process, but one that I thoroughly enjoy. For more detailed information on my wax sculpting and casting process go to www.mystcswan.biz and look at the "Creation Process" and "Wax Sculpting" sections.

No matter if you are captured by world of fantasy in general, are enthralled by the mystical elegance of swans, drawn to goddess energies and those of stones, or love mythology, fairy tale and Renaissance - this fantasy necklace is a piece to treasure and enjoy for years to come.

Please contact me if you would like a different stone combination or would like a necklace made with additional chain for a longer length.
