I am currently working on a series of teapots inspired by
the book: "The Art of Chanoyu"
In it are depicted untensils used in the tea ceremony. I became quite enamored with an 18th century iron pourer, called "Kannabe"
I want to express the solidity of the metal in clay...
with the happiness I found in having weekly tea with my sensi Noriko, who taught me the Ohara school technique of flower arranging.
Anyway...this is stoneware clay with lots of grog so it has texture. It has been handbuilt and is glazed with a bronzy glaze and over this a very milky buttery white.
Its about 8"wide X 9.5" tall.
