Nori is elegant and chic in a palette of rust, copper, deep maroon and a splash of vivid orange satin. Down the center of the bag is a pleated panel framed by lovely panels on either side that look to me like tree branches. Those panels are hand painted fabric from Mollie over at Monkeyshine Design. http:\/\/www.monkeyshinedesign.etsy.com The painted panels on the front of the bag are raw edged and will fray a bit as the bag is washed. The texture of the edge was just so interesting that I left it.

The bag is named for my sister, Norah, who is often called "Nori" (although she dislikes it coming from anyone besides her favorite niece). In Japanese, "nori" also means seaweed. Since the painted panels also evoke a sea feeling and my sister is just as mad about these sunset colors as I am, this name fits well.

The flap and body of the bag are embellished with some couched suede yarn left over from a scarf I am crocheting. It's butter soft and the tones match the bag perfectly. The flap is crowned off by a charm that is in reality, an orphan brass earring my mom picked up at a yard sale. The handle is a deep maroon. Fully lined with an inner zip pocket in the same deep maroon. Antique brass finish magnetic snap under the flap. Bag measures about 10.5" wide by 9" tall. Handle is about 19" from top of bag to shoulder.
