Listed as the TOP TOOL in SUNSET magazine (August 2014)

Our tools tell a story.

They tell of our English heritage and a childhood planting seeds alongside our parents and grandparents. Our well-loved antique workbench has served three generations and now takes pride of place in our barn. The lathe and many of the carving tools which I use to craft these timeless pieces have either been inherited or I have custom made myself..

Based on a traditional English design this is the ideal tool creating perfect straight rows. These are ideal for the vegetable garden and raised beds to optimize planting space. You’ll wonder how you ever managed without them! Simply insert one marker into the soil and unwind the string as you place the second marker. Each spool has a carved groove to hold the string in place when stored; just press the string into the groove and gently tug the markers apart to fasten.

The wood is either harvested from our own property in Duvall, Washington or within a 100 mile radius and provided by local arborists. By supporting other small businesses in this way we help to build a community of like-minded individuals who care about each other and the environment.

Wood species will vary according to availability but is typically maple, cherry or apple.

Each marker measures approx. 7.5″ long x 1.5″ wide and comes with ~12′ of 3 ply natural jute.

So cool! I have been doing gardening by the square foot technique so this is replacing having to run the string. I love them and there is something about the wood in my hands....

Well turned solid wood row marker makes garden layout simple and easy. Bonus feature: one end provides a tight notch to keep the line from unwinding and the two parts from separating. Excellent quality material with quick, on time delivery. Very pleased.

On time, and as pictured. Got them to put in my husband's Easter basket, ended up giving them to him early.
