Pure Gold - Primitive Solid 24k Wedding Ring - Artisan Hammered Flat Solid Gold Band
Description
Pure Gold - Primitive Solid 24k Wedding Ring - Artisan Hammered Band
Twenty-four karat gold has the deepest, brightest color of any form of gold because it's 99.9% pure - in creating each of these solid gold wedding bands, I hope to create a perfect symbol of purity, simplicity, and a seamless union.
This ring is intentionally created using the most primitive methods and materials possible. No specialized tools or machining is used in the process aside from a torch and a hammer. Instead of using solder, I join the ends of the ring into a circle by bringing the metal to its melting point until the ends fuse together. This assures the purity of the metal and creates the strongest bond possible.
Band measures roughly 3.3mm wide and 1.5mm thick.
This item will be made to order just for you; please click the "Shipping & Policies" tab above to view current production times. All purchases will arrive nicely gift boxed and presentation ready. Item will ship via FedEx with signature confirmation required for extra security.
Shipping on additional items from brightsmith.etsy.com is always free. Take a look around before checkout and save on shipping!

This was perfect. It's very dainty and flattering, but strong. My wife and I love it. And the seller deserves praise for making my order arrive on time! Thank you.

Returns and exchange details
I gladly accept returns or exchanges on stock items if notified within two weeks of delivery. A stock item is any item that's listed in my storefront and ordered without alteration requests (e.g., changes to materials, dimensions, or production method; listings titled "Custom Order").
Returned items must be received within 30 days in unaltered condition. I'm sorry that shipping costs and rush fees are not refundable in most cases, though costs most certainly will be reimbursed if I've made an error in fulfilling your order! Items sent back postage due will be returned to sender.
Rush orders and inscribed items are not returnable. For custom orders, returns will be considered on a case by case basis depending on cost of materials and resale value. Due to the cost of specially commissioned materials, custom orders accepted for return or cancelation will incur a 20% restocking fee. Only listings marked "Custom," items with customizations requested in the notes to seller at checkout, items returned with postage due, or items returned in used condition will ever incur a restocking fee.
Resizing custom, gold, or inscribed rings may require a small fee depending on the work required (most rings will need to be re-made to be sized down). Current turnaround time for resizing is 2 weeks.

Shipping policies
I ship daily via USPS with domestic tracking unless a different carrier is indicated in individual listings; most larger, solid gold orders will ship via FedEx for extra security. All orders over $250 will require signature confirmation upon delivery.
I guarantee all US deliveries until tracking updates as delivered, though this is not possible if an incorrect shipping address is provided at time of purchase. If paying by PayPal, please make sure your address is correct with both PayPal and Etsy.
» EXPEDITED ORDERS: Let me know before ordering if you need your item in a hurry and I'll do my best to accommodate you. Private-courier shipping may be required. Rush Fees may be necessary for expedited gold items to cover the costs of having raw materials rushed to me by courier. Rush Orders are considered custom orders and are not returnable.
» INTERNATIONAL ORDERS: Most countries charge customs and sales taxes (up to 22% of sale price in the EU and up to 78% in South America) on imported jewelry. Your local tax office will collect this from you before you can claim your package. Please message me if you have any questions about your local taxes and I will do what I can to assist you in finding the information you need. Buyer is responsible for the cost of return shipping for unclaimed international packages; shipping overages and return shipping charges may be deducted from return amount as a restocking fee.

FAQs
The best way to figure out your ring size is to have a local jeweler size you. Most large jewelry stores offer this service for free. Since one ring size and the next varies only by tenths of a millimeter (smaller than a grain of rice!), it's best not to guess. I strongly recommend being sized by a few jewelers at different times of day, as your fingers tend to be bigger in the morning and when your hands are warm.
If you cannot visit a local jeweler, I do offer ring sizers here: http://etsy.me/25LlClF. However, sizing will be most accurate under the guidance of a professional who can advise you on issues such as fluctuating finger size.

Ring sizing follows the international standard shown in this chart: http://www.ringsizes.co/, though you might find that every ring seems to fit you differently! Common reasons:
➳ Fingers are larger in the morning and in the summer. Sizing can vary by a full size between AM and PM.
➳ Rings fit differently depending on width and style. Bands/sets over 3mm wide take up more space on the finger, so they create more friction and will feel tighter than a narrow ring in the same size. Your finger size is also usually not the same all the way up your finger, which is an important factor with stacking sets.
➳ Rings with stones (esp. engagement rings) are commonly undersized by at least 1/4 size. Do not base your regular ring size on your e-ring.

Though white gold is very popular, it's not ideal for many wearers, as the standard formulation for white gold in North America contains nickel. It's estimated that 1 in 8 people are allergic to nickel, or will develop an allergy after exposure. Most nickel-based gold has been banned in the EU under the EU Nickel Directive.
If you have metal sensitivities, please message me for palladium white gold (European formulation) alternatives. Generally, palladium white will cost 20% more than standard white.

No. Because the low-maintenance longevity of pieces is most important to me, I do not use rhodium plating.
Please note that rhodium plating is now the industry standard for larger-scale, US retailers, and the practice is rarely disclosed. If you're concerned about color matching your engagement ring, artisan white gold may not be your best choice, unless your e-ring is vintage or was also artisan crafted.

No, I'm sorry, I don't do local delivery or pickup. My studio isn't zoned for commercial visitors, and local pickup voids many payment processor protections. All items must ship by trackable post.
I do not sell in brick and mortar stores. Since every one of my pieces is made to order, and my samples are usually pre-sold, I don't carry pre-made stock for local display. If you're in Austin, and prefer an in-person buying experience, convo me and I'll help you find what you're looking for in town.

Yes, all non-vintage items carry a lifetime warranty for repair or replacement. Please see my Policies page for details: http://etsy.me/26ntZEm
All pieces large and flat enough are stamped with a purity stamp and my registered maker's mark. Rings with a flat inner band surface of 1.5mm or wider are marked 14k, 18k, 22k, or 24k for gold, or .925 for sterling.
Under US law, purity stamps must be accompanied by a signature or federally registered mark, so my trademark can't be omitted if the item is purity stamped. However, if you'd like ALL markings omitted, please include your preference in your note to seller at checkout.
Tiny bands (narrower than 1.5mm) and patterned bands can be difficult to mark without marring the outer surface of the band. However, if you'd like your piece marked and signed, without regard to possible surface marring, include your instructions at checkout.

I'm always happy to look at photos of your engagement ring to help you select a matching wedding band. You can send photos or links to me via Etsy's messaging system.
If you're looking to match a specific band height, width, or shape, I commonly create custom bands in solid 14k, 18k, 22k, or 24k gold.
You may also choose to have a sample made in low-cost sterling silver, brass, or copper. Samples are not returnable, but the cost of the sample will be deducted from the price of your gold band, should you decide to purchase it from brightsmith.etsy.com.

Precious metals are malleable should not be worn where they'll be subjected to abrasion or impact, such as while exercising. Jewelry should not be worn while bathing. Soap can get trapped under rings, creating an environment hospitable to microbial growth.
Special care should be taken with patinas (e.g., blackened silver, firestained copper). Patinas will fade with abrasion and moisture. Hot water from bathing will make patinas fade especially quickly.
Ethiopian Welo opals are also sensitive to water. If you get your Welo opal wet, the iridescence will return once dry, but repeated exposure may cause a Welo opal to lose its fire permanently.
Mother of pearl is not a stone but an organic material. Do not subject to heat or chemicals.

Since gold is always naturally yellow, a white metal must be mixed, or alloyed, with gold to make it white.
White gold, by North American standards, is an alloy of yellow gold and nickel. It is the hardest of all the precious white metal alloys. In 14k, it contains 58% gold. Unplated, it has a creamy, off-white cast.
Palladium white gold, the European standard, is an alloy of yellow gold and palladium, a metal from the platinum family. It contains no nickel and is hypoallergenic. It also has a creamy, off-white cast.
950 palladium is a platinum-family alloy. It contains no gold, so it does not have a yellowish cast, but is steely white. "950" indicates that it's at least 95% pure palladium. It contains no nickel and is hypoallergenic.
