Fleur-De-Lis
The Fleur-de Lis is one of the most ancient designs in Heraldry. The "flower of the lily" design is often associated with the French, but is found on many English and Scottish coat of arms. It is also on the Crown Jewels of England and Scotland and on the Scottish Royal Arms.

The frame dimensions are 8" x 10"

Paper Casting
Paper casting is to me the perfect medium. It allows me use almost every skill set. A typical piece begins as a drawing or two. Then I sculpt it in wax. This is a long refining process and often the image sculpted is far different that the drawing. Then I build a dam around the wax and pour a rubber mold directly off the surface. A casting is made by pressing wet cotton pulp into the mold and extracting the water. Then I finish the surface.
While every piece that emerges from the mold is about the same, no two are really painted the same. Maybe I would if I could, but the painting process is always in flux. I am always experimenting with ways of mixing colors or washes and hard edge or new pigments. I send about 75% of my time with the painted finishes.

The piece is amazing. It's not the only piece we own as we were gifted one on our wedding and I bought a piece last year at the Maryland Irish festival but we will make it a habit! Thank you!

I missed going to the Dublin Irish Festival this year - like all larger crowd events, it was cancelled. I had looked forward to buying some more art from Kevin Dyer again as I found him here several years ago. Then, I received a link from the festival saying I could order online and behold, Mr. Dyer had a store with Etsy - who knew? Me now. I ordered 3 more pieces of art to add to the 3 I already had. Kevin's art has dimension to it. He makes these art pieces and then paints each one by hand is what he explained to me when I talked to him one year. (he also has prints on his website, but I prefer the cast art). This art just appeals to me - I like the designs - both the subject and his take on it. Plus the actual paint work is great. They are really look at me pieces of art. I will be back to buy more in the future.
