Paper Casting
Paper casting is to me the perfect medium. It allows me to use almost every skill set. A typical piece begins as a drawing or two. Then I sculpt it in wax. This is a long refining process and often the image sculpted is far different than the drawing. Then I build a dam around the wax and pour a rubber mold directly off the surface. A casting is made by pressing the wet cotton pulp into the mold and extracting the water. Then I finish the surface.
While every piece that emerges from the mold is about the same, no two are really painted the same. Maybe I would if I could, but the painting process is always in flux. I am always experimenting with ways of mixing colors or washes and hard edges or new pigments. I spend about 75% of my time with the painted finishes.

Absolutely gorgeous! The art is beautifully done. And the frame is amazing quality! I debated whether to try to save money by getting my own frame, but I'm so glad I didn't because the framing is truly professional quality. Shipping was very quick too. I cannot recommend this shop enough!

The review submitted in December, 2022 was submitted in error THIS SHOP DESERVES 5++ RATING! .. After searching for the perfect Christmas gift for my sister, I came upon Kevin’s company, Castpaper. My sister, like Kevin, is a self-taught artist. She can be a challenge to shop for (don’t we all know someone like this?). I ordered this item on December 18th without expectation that it would arrive by Christmas. To my surprise, it arrived on December 23rd exceptionally packed. It appears very nice in the photo but it is more beautiful in person. The different techniques Kevin utilizes show in the texture and the colors are so vivid. My sister loved it as did everyone in attendance. I plan on ordering the companion art, ‘Woodland Fairy’ for her birthday. THANK YOU Kevin & Logan for sharing your gift!
