Description

This Greek mythology jewelry is a cameo necklace crafted from a rare Leda and the swan frosted glass cameo. It makes a stunning silver pendant necklace.

These cameos are rare and special. Almost Lalique quality. I bezel set it in fine silver and crafted a bail from sterling silver floral pattern wire that I soldered to the back. It is marked with my makers mark and the .999FS mark.

This piece is made to order, please allow 2 weeks. The Leda and the swan cameos are very limited. I only have a couple left.

It is suspended from a necklace of silk cords and sterling silver clasp which is 18".
The pendant measures 1 2/16" (a little over an inch) across and 1 inch from the top of the bail to the bottom.

Leda and the Swan is a motif from Greek mythology, in which Zeus came to Leda in the form of a swan. According to later Greek mythology, Leda bore Helen and Polydeuces, children of Zeus while at the same time bearing Castor and Clytemnestra, children of her husband Tyndareus, the King of Sparta. As the story goes, Zeus took the form of a swan and raped or seduced Leda on the same night she slept with her husband, King Tyndareus. In some versions, she laid two eggs from which the children hatched.

Rare Beauty.
