Looking for a gift for someone who takes meticulous care of their garden. Well, these garden dibblers might be 'just the ticket' to a perfect gift. Since everything I make is made-to-order, feel free to tell the recipient that you had this handmade just for them. Gift-wrapping is always free.

You will receive a set of two dibblers, one for seeds and the other for bulbs. The large dibbler is made from a beloved Copper Beech tree that had to be taken down for safety reason. The small dibbler is made from wood from my neighbor's black walnut tree that come down in a storm.

The large is 12" long with 1" increments. The small is 9" long with 1/2" increments.

Did you know that the dibber was first recorded in Roman times and has remained mostly unchanged since? In the eighteenth and nineteenth centuries, farmers would use long-handled dibbers of metal or wood to plant crops. One man would walk with a dibber making holes, and a second man would plant seeds in each hole and fill it in. It was not until the Renaissance that dibbers became a manufactured item, some made of iron for penetrating harder soils and clay.

We work exclusively with discarded wood, the majority of which spalted. Caught at just the right time, spalted wood is magnificent to look at, lasts for generations and ensures that each piece is one-of-a-kind.

To care, wash with mild soapy water, rinse and dry immediately. To restore the finish, occasional wipe down with walnut oil.

These are made to order, it will take 1-2 weeks to complete
