Additional policies

JEWELRY CARE:
A great deal of my jewelry is made of antiqued brass, raw brass, gold/silver plated brass or plated alloy base metals. Please take special care when wearing your jewelry. I do not recommend bathing or swimming in your fashion jewelry as it will water spot and tarnish the finish faster then with normal wear. These pieces will tarnish over time gaining an aged patina. If you want to keep the shine on your raw brass it is best to apply a sealer if you’d like to maintain the bright brass finish on a more long term basis. Auto wax (Turtle wax) works just fine for this. Apply and buff with a soft cloth. Repeat this process from time to time. Always dry with a soft cloth should it get wet.

Should you choose not to seal your brass, but want to keep it shiny you can clean it at home with simple environmentally friendly products as described:

♥Ketchup: The housekeeping guru who has been writing the syndicated “Hints from Heloise” column for more than 30 years recommends this kitchen staple. Squirt some ketchup on a clean cloth and rub over tarnished brass. Then wipe clean with a damp cloth and buff dry.

♥Soap or Mild Detergent: If your brass item is dusty or dirty rather than tarnished, submerging it in warm soapy water and cleaning with a soft cloth could do the trick. Use a toothbrush to gently scrub extra dirty areas.

♥Vinegar, Salt and Flour: These versatile home staples can be combined to make a paste to clean tarnished brass. Dissolve 1 teaspoon of salt into one-half cup of vinegar, and add flour until the mixture becomes a paste. Rub into the brass, leave for about 10 minutes, then rinse with warm water and buff dry.

Caring forGOLD/SILVER plate jewelry
Direct or constant exposure to some chemicals, for example chlorine, solvent, hair spray, perfume, and including your own body sweat and oils, can change the color of the plating or remove it. Apply hair spray or perfume BEFORE putting on your jewelry. Remove jewelry BEFORE bathing or swimming. Also, skin pH, this is the most unpredictable factor. Some skin simply gets along well with the plating than others. From experience, and in an extreme case, the plating may last for only days for certain few customers. Your plated jewelry may take on a brassy orange color, especially gold plate. To keep it from tarnishing or discoloring, keep your plated jewelry in a ziplock bag when not wearing it.
