Washcloth sizes can be increased or decreased as instructed in pattern. Mitts are generally one size, and length (for fingers and thumb) can be increased or decreased as instructed in the pattern.

Note that yarn suggested for washcloth and bath mitt patterns is quite thick (thicker than standard worsted-weight cottons in my experience), so you may need to adjust hook size to achieve gauge with a different yarn.
