a print of an original hand-drawn illustration.
the illustration is based on an old canadian folktale about the bear who stole the heat from the world. mother bear hid the heat away in her tipi and the land was plunged into a long cold winter. the other animals had to band together and devise a plan to get it back and restore summer to the world.
drawn in fineliner and ink and inspired by the safavid miniature paintings of iran and the book illustrations of ivan bilibin, the drawing shows a lake with the tipi and a canoe, surrounded by a landscape of rocks and and forested hills and features a few small hidden animals, all framed in an ornate patterned border. the print is reproduced at the same size as the original drawing - i like to draw really really small.
image area is approximately 18 x 14 cm, the same size as the original drawing.
printed on A4 (210x297mm) so plenty of white border for framing.
