Description

A beautifully rendered Art Nouveau antique tile by the French Company Saint Amand. The tile depicts a lily pad and lotus flower on a blue, water background. The tile is 6" square and has the crazing associated with a tile of this age. There is a small chip on the upper right and corner. The tile is marked "Saint Amand Nord & Hamage" on the back of the tile.

The tile was produced between 1896 (when the factory at Hamage was built) and World War I when production was halted. This corresponds with the height of the Art Nouveau movement.
