Description

Fish in a Bowl or Tank can be a fascinating sight for a child. ‘Could I have a Fish Please?’ Reasons for & against granting the request may be many and varied. An excited pointing finger selects “Another Little Fishy” Granting your child’s request in the form of a real live Fish may not be practical but the gift of a toy Fish could be a suitable substitute & provide hours of fun! Equipped with a special ‘finger pocket’ this Fish is more than just a cuddly Soft Toy it is a type of Puppet! It is an action toy that children & adults can enjoy!

The 8”/20 cm long Finger Pocket Fish in this sewing project can be used as a Clutch Toy for a Baby or Child that will stimulate the senses & promote fine motor skills. The Fish can be used as a Puppet simply by inserting a finger or two into the strategically placed ‘finger pocket’ and moving the finger(s) or entire arm to imitate the swimming action of a live Fish. Babies will exhibit great delight when watching the Fish moved in this fashion and Children will enjoy animating their own Under the Sea adventures.

This PDF Pattern contains 2 ready to print pages of Full Sized Pattern pieces. With a choice of ¼” or 5 mm seam allowance Cutting Line this Pattern has International appeal. Photos and text form a comprehensive Step by Step (Banana by Banana) guide to making a puppet style action toy Fish.

Materials & Equipment: A full list of requirements is included in the PDF

Per Fish you will need the following items:

• 12” x 16”/30 cm x 40 cm Remnant of Patterned Cotton (non stretch) dress weight Fabric, Batik Fabric, Quilters Cotton or Plain Fabric (e.g. Poplin, Satin, Sateen or Taffeta) Allow extra Fabric for Fussy Cutting and Design Matching
• 1 Pair of 3/8”/10 mm Safety Eyes (e.g. Gold, Amber, Orange, Blue, Green or Black) & 1 Pair of Washers Note: 6 mm & 8 mm Safety Eyes are also suitable
• Approximately 2oz/60 g Stuffing (Polyester Fibre Fill Toy Stuffing or substitute)
• Sewing Thread

Remember....One banana, two bananas, three bananas! More!!! Four bananas make a bunch and so do many more!!!!! Making a Soft Toy is like that....take it one step or ‘banana’ at a time and you will get a ‘bunch’ done!

You may be wondering what ‘restrictions’ apply to this pattern, well as far as I am concerned IF you as ONE individual person have the patience, creative energy, physical strength and passionate desire to make one or more Finger Pocket Fish per week for an entire year (without resorting to full scale mass production which would imply the involvement of more than one person) then ‘go for it’, you have my permission!

If you intend to sell any Finger Pocket Fish direct to the public or to friends then I would be thrilled with (but don’t insist on) your acknowledgment of “Just Bananas Over Soft Toys” as being the source of the pattern on any labels you may choose to attach. (Acknowledgment may be required anyway depending on your Local Regulations). If you are thinking about selling your Soft Toy Finger Pocket Fish Online, please check the Online Site requirements as a label listing a direct link back to the PDF Pattern may be necessary. Don’t forget the PDF (Pattern Pages, Photos & Text) are all protected by Copyright JB 2014 so you shouldn’t Copy (Duplicate Digitally or Print) & resell the Content of the PDF.

Please appreciate the time and effort that went into creating this Pattern and treasure it as a valuable resource. Thanks a ‘Bunch’!
