Vintage from the 1940s

chrome, metal, Bakelite

Here's a stylish circa 1940s Model 885 Starlite toaster made by The Toastswell Co. of St Louis, MO. This relatively rare auto pop-up toaster features wonderful, curvy lines, shiny chrome and Bakelite levers and feet. It also has a shooting star etched on both sides. It measures 12" X 7" tall X 6.5" wide. The two toast slots measure 5.25" X 1" thick. There is a toast darkness adjustment lever on the end of one of the push-down lever.

This toaster is in very good vintage condition and looks like it has been well cared for over the years. The chrome is nice and shiny but does have a few light scratches and one small ding on the top panel. The Bakelite is crack and chip free. The interior mechanics are clean with no rust. We tested it out and it works well. The cord is in good shape and the plug has been replaced.
