Red Cedar River flows through East Lansing, Michigan. It is a pretty river with a little water fall. In the summer lots of people gather on the banks of the river having picnics, and feeding the ducks. Black squirrels are often seen racing from tree to tree or chasing each other. My design captures the lazy feel of a summer day. The quilt has thread lace trees, and the water fall is made using thread lace with some Angelina fibers stitched into the lace. This gives the waterfall a little sheen like real water. There is a large shadow on the river from the trees along the banks....ducks are floating on the river. The squirrel tails are made to look fluffy by using some black thread play. The dimensions of the quilt are 24" X 20 1/4". This is an orginal design of Peggy Szasz. The quilt was inspired by a photograph taken last summer.
