Description

Woodsman Brown Woven Belt SA18 - Ikat Fabric Sash - Renaissance Gypsy Clothing - Guatemalan Textiles - Bohemian Accessories - Pirate Belt

Woodsman Brown Sash is a hand woven Guatemalan fabric featuring a black and white ikat stripe at its center…. flanked by symmetrical white accent stripes, yummy black and watermelon red shimmer stripes and completed with more white accent stripes (no.18)

3 1/2" wide by approximately 90" long, this brown fabric belt can be used as a sash belt for your gypsy bohemian style clothing and boho chic fashion wear... for special occasion events as Reenactment Clothing for Renaissance Fairs, LARP Costumes, Music Festivals and Burning Man Fashion statements.

These hand woven Guatemalan textiles can also be used to make Obi Sashes or Kimono Belts… hat scarves or head bands… guitar or drum straps… Use them for embellishments, decorative trim, house decor… or any other crafty project which your imagination would like to make with them !

This woven belt can be used 'as is'. Please note that it's length measurement is approximate and includes unfinished loom warps at both ends. The length of the fringes will also vary from sash to sash. Handmade, these Fabric Belts will show the usual charms of human imperfection (what some people refer to as 'flaws'). If there are any, they are minor. I have sold this fabric for many years, and I hope you will be super pleased as all my other customers have been. Please hand wash in cold water only.

Brizel's sashes are New Old Vintage Stock from the 1980's, never used nor washed. As my gift to you, they ship out in a water repellant padded envelope via First Class Mail with Tracking within the USA for Free. If you are in a hurry, you can upgrade to Priority Mail during the Check Out process.

ABOUT Brizel's SASH FABRICS from Guatemala

These gorgeous vintage fabric belts are fine quality woven Guatemalan textiles... reclaimed from Las Manos, a business which through FAiR TRADE principles commissioned their creation directly from the weavers in Guatemala throughout the 1980's. When Las Manos went out of business in the early 00's I inherited (so to speak) approximately 80 different fabric sash rolls, all bearing distinct designs & colors.

In Guatemala, this type of traditional Mayan belt is still worn today- sometimes the only remnant of the native costume worn by men. Women, on the other end of the spectrum, have kept to traditional wear much more passionately.

Sashes- called Bandas (men’s) and Fajas (women’s) can range from thin to wide, plain to colorful, striped- with or without plaids, to intricate brocaded designs. Wound around the waist several times- often holding up either pants or skirts- men’s sashes are tied at the bellybutton, the ends allowed to tangle in front; women usually wind theirs and tuck the ends to the side or at the back. Tradition varies by region- style, color, pattern, tying methodology. Nothing is haphazard.

Guatemalan sashes, generally speaking, are the weaving product of a back strap loom. This is a very basic loom which warp strings are tied to a tree on one end... and at the other end has a length of wood and a fabric seat. The weaver sits at this end, holding the tension on the warp strings whilst weaving.

Weaving is a spiritual tradition- affirming connection with the Gods- bringing myth and prayer into physical manifestation. In that spiritual tradition, the warp strings represented the umbilical cord between the divine and the individual... and the tree was 'the' tree of life.

My animals love these and it's great to know that they are truly safe and chemical free. I can always count on Brizel to provide quality products and beyond excellent service. You can't go wrong when you buy from this shop. I've done so...at least a half dozen times by now, I think! :)

Payments

Secure options
  • Accepts Etsy Gift Cards and Etsy Credits
Etsy keeps your payment information secure. Etsy shops never receive your credit card information.
There are currently two ways to process your payments- 1- through Paypal or 2- through Etsy's Payments system. If you wish to make your payment via mail, I am happy to accept a money order from the post office. Please Contact Me so that I may set up that third payment option for you.

The speediest way to check out is with items from my shop only in your cart then pay for them through Paypal. You do not need a Paypal account in order to pay through Paypal's secure system... you can select that method and check out *as their guest* paying with your credit card.

Etsy's Payments system is more diverse because it has more options but payments may take longer to process with their third party processor. If you choose to check out with multiple shops at the same time... or you select another form of payment than Paypal - your payment will go thru via Etsy Payments and may take up to 48hrs to process. More often than not though it goes through right away.

I will be in touch once your payment has cleared to give you a ship out date which will be approx. 1-2 business days after the payment has processed.

PS... If your shipping address is within California... tax will automatically be added to your invoice.
