Description

Baphomet was a symbolic representation of a deity supposedly worshipped by the secretive order of the Knights Templar during the 11th century, and more recently adopted by the Church of Satan in their religious iconography.

This crocheted, cutesy-fied interpretation is based off of a 1856 illustration from Eliphas Levi. His arms, pointing both towards the sky and the ground, read “Solve” and “Coagula” (needle-felted into the crochet). From his head, between the horns of virility, emerges a flaming torch -- the magical light of universal equilibrium -- crafted from tufted yarn strands. Baphomet’s wings represent the flight of the liberated soul, made out of hand-sewn felt. Ever the amazing androgyne, he bears both crocheted female breasts and a needle-felted phallus, shown as a wingless caduceus representing eternal life. His hoofed goat legs have wire inside so he can sit, cross-legged, or stand -- as ritual dictates.

Baphomet is the light bearer clothed in the disguise of evil. Evil and unbelievable cuteness!

Figure measures approximately 12" high (when seated) and about 10" from extended fingertip to fingertip. Figure will not stand on its own. This is an art piece, not a toy, so rough handling is not recommended. While I make every effort to recreate the piece as accurately as possible, each piece is unique and may differ slightly from the photos shown.

Please allow up to 2 weeks for completion.

Returns & exchanges

No refunds; I make every effort to package and ship my products carefully, keep in contact with my customers to ensure their satisfaction, and try to represent the pieces as accurately as possible through listing photos.

Shipping policies

Most items are usually shipped out on Monday when possible. Any delay will be passed onto the buyer ASAP. Confirmation numbers and expected delivery dates will be obtained for domestic orders and will usually be emailed to the buyer immediately after shipment.

International shipments are possible, but no confirmation will be made. Please contact me for specific country's shipping estimates.

Additional policies

Custom pieces can take 2 weeks to a month to complete (usually less, rarely a little longer, depending on varying factors). Although I make every effort to recreate them as accurately as possible, works based on previously existing pieces may not look exactly like the original featured in listing photos (i.e. different yarn shade, different sized safety eyes).

Please message me for commission ideas and pricing. Most commissions start around $150 (but prices vary depending on complexity).

FAQs

Not currently. I do have a couple of free patterns available on my website, though (http://croshame.com)!
Yes, I am currently taking commissions and customized projects. Because of the planning involved in making a whole new piece, most commissions start at $100-150, but prices vary depending on the complexity of the piece.
