T-43 Almost Blooming

Sold: This item is no longer available; listed as an example of a commissioned work.

Dimensions: 14 1/2" H x 17 3/4" W x 3/4" D
Translucent colored vitreous glass tile on glass base. Metal frame. Ungrouted. Hanging bracket installed.

Inspired by a Japanese print of cherry blossoms almost, but not quite, in bloom. In this delicate piece I have utilized hand-cut translucent vitreous glass tiles in subtle tints of green, brown, white and pink. The mosaic border employs a virtually transparent tile with coppery metallic streaks. Backlit with natural light in a window or an alternate light source, this mosaic glows with a soft, shimmering beauty.
