Description

These beautiful blue cufflinks are presented in a stylish cufflink box and includes a small high quality photocard which has details of the planet on the reverse. The inside is left blank for you to write your own message or greetings. The "gem" is a 1.6mm glass cabochon set into a silver plated base. You can even see one of Neptune's moons in the image!

Neptune is the most distant planet from the Sun and was named after the Roman god of the sea. This gas giant makes one trip around the Sun every 164.8 Earth years and during some parts of its orbit one or the other of its poles point directly at the Sun and get about 42 years of direct sunlight. The rest of the time they are in darkness.
The atmosphere of Neptune is made of hydrogen and helium, with methane, which absorbs red light, and which makes the planet appear a lovely blue colour. High, thin clouds drift in the upper atmosphere. Below its heavy atmosphere, Uranus is also made of layers of hydrogen, helium, and methane gases which contain other layers of water, ammonia and methane ice. The inner core of the planet is made of rock.
The climate of Neptune is very active, large storms whirl through its upper atmosphere, and high-speed winds track around the planet at up 1,340 kilometers per second. One of the largest storms ever seen was recorded in 1989. It was called the Great Dark Spot and lasted for about five years.
Neptune has a very thin collection of rings that are most likely made up of ice particles mixed with dust grains and are possibly coated with a carbon-based substance.
Neptune has 14 moons the most interesting of which is Triton, a frozen world that is spewing nitrogen ice and dust particles out from below its surface. It was likely captured by the gravitational pull of Neptune and is probably the coldest world in the solar system.
