Description

Vintage porcelain lidded beer stein made in West Germany with silver ornate pewter lid.

A vintage beer stein made of porcelain for Crook's Palace, Colorado's oldest bar in the town of Blackhawk. The bar was founded 1898 and is currently shutdown. The bar is where Jesse James or Billy the Kid drank at according to legends and rumors.

This stein commemorates Crook's Palace. It is beautifully made with Crook's Palace prominently painted on the front. Along the sides are the phrase "Ein Guter Trunk Macht Alte Jung" which translates to "A Good Drink Makes the Old Young." This is a classic saying in German breweries. The rest of the stein is an idyllic scene of the town of Blackhawk, Colorado nestled comfortably in Gregory Gulch.

The top of the stein is capped with a sturdy pewter lid, with a convenient tab that you can push to open and close the lid. The pewter lid is in good condition with beautiful ornate etchings. The lid is attached to the handle which is painted to look like a tree branch. The bottom of the porcelain stein is engraved with West Germany, the manufacturer country of origin and the maker's mark. The impression is badly made but it is clearly the maker's mark of Thewalt Stein's logo which was in use between 1930 and 1990.

Celebrate America's history with this unique and wonderful stein, cheers!
