What a fun little book this is: "Do not grease the sides of cake pans. How would you like to climb a greased pole?"; or "Plant parsley in small pots for your window sill. These pots of green keep spring in your kitchen all winter, will be an ever-ready garnish for meats, and you can sell the surplus at your annual church bazaar"; or "Houseflies: Put a sponge in a saucer and saturate with oil of lavender. Put one in each room and no flies will stay"; or "To whiten laces, wash them in sour milk". There are many more of these in that book, as well as birthstones, wedding anniversaries, Presidents of the U.S. (Truman was the last listed-1945), state capitols, kitchen measures, holidays in the U.S., business laws, Federal Old Age Benefit Laws, an example of Employee's quarterly federal tax return, a childrens' section ("Talk in a low, even voice. It denotes refinement"), postal rates and info effective Jan. 1, 1949 and even more.....

The actual title of this book is "Your Household Guide: 1001 Ways to Lighten Your Daily Burden", Copyright 1951, Walsworth Bros, Marceline MO. For being over a half century old, this book of 80 pages is in excellent vintage condition.
