Description

The 2cm glass cabochon pendant and 1.6mm earrings contain high resolution images of the planet and are set into a silver plated base. Both the chain and ear wires are sterling silver and the chain can be either a 16" or 18"long. The rounded glass cabochon has a slightly magnifying effect which enhances the overall appearance. They are presented in a black jewellery box with a beautiful photo card with information of the planet on the reverse and is blank on the inside for you to write your message or greeting.

Saturn is the sixth planet from the sun at a distance distance of approx. 1.4 billion km and a day there lasts lasts just 10.7 hours. A Saturnian year however, the time it takes to orbit the sun is 29 Earth years. Surrounded by thousands of spectacular ringlets consisting of chunks of rock and ice, Saturn like the other gas-giant planets does not have a solid surface, and is mostly a massive ball of hydrogen and helium. The planet has the most spectacular ring system of all our solar systems; it is made up of seven rings with several gaps and divisions between them. Saturn has 53 known moons with an additional 9 moons awaiting confirmation.
Although Saturn cannot support life, as we know it, some of Saturn's moons have conditions that might support life.
When Galileo Galilei looked at Saturn through a telescope in the 1600s, he noticed strange objects on each side of the planet and drew in his notes a triple-bodied planet system and later a planet with arms or handles - the handles being the rings of Saturn.
In total five space missions have been sent to explore Saturn, its moons and rings including most recently Cassini.

This range of jewellery has been designed using stunning images of deep space, courtesy of Nasa/JPL-Caltech, to celebrate Dark Sky Parks within the U.K. and around the world, and to encourage the preservation of our magical star filled night skies.

Please note that this range of jewelry is not guaranteed to be 100% waterproof and therefore should be removed before bathing.
