Description

Crochet your very own cuddly hippo! Make a really big one using bulky yarn and he'll make the perfect huggable friend for anyone! Or choose a lighter weight for a more travel friendly size. Who can resist that kissable snout?

~~ Please Note, this is a pattern, NOT a finished product. ~~
It's written in English using US terminology.

*DIFFICULTY*
Intermediate

*SKILLS REQUIRED*
• Crocheting in the round
• Chain, slip, single & half double crochet stitch
• Increasing & decreasing

*MATERIALS NEEDED*
• Grey or purple yarn
• Crochet hook
• A pair of scissors
• Yarn needle and pins
• Stuffing
• A pair of eyes

*SIZE & YARN CHOICE*
The size of the finished amigurumi depends on the weight of your yarn. You can use any yarn you like, just make sure the crochet needle is a couple sizes smaller than recommended.
The small hippo is 14 cm (5,5”) tall and 29 cm (11,5”) long when made with medium weight yarn (4) and a size 3,5 mm crochet hook. I needed 3 skeins á 50 grams. The eyes are 8 mm in diameter.
The big hippo is 21 cm (8,3”) tall and 40 cm (15,5”) long when made with super bulky yarn (6) and a 5,5 mm hook. I needed 8 skeins á 50 grams. The eyes are 12.5 mm in diameter.
