This set includes the first three PDF pattern downloads in my Twelve Days Ornament Series:
1 - Partridge & Pear
2 - Turtle Dove
3 - French Hen

Finished sizes are roughly 4x5 inches (the shapes vary). See individual listings for more info on each pattern. These hand sewn wool felt ornaments are perfect for your Christmas tree or for special handmade gifting. Choose your own colors, or use my color guides found here: http://mmmcrafts.blogspot.com/p/twelve-days.html.

I’ve always loved the traditional Twelve Days of Christmas song, so I designed this series of hand sewn folk ornaments for each of the twelve days, based on the original carol from 1780. The order is a bit different towards the end from the modern song*, and day four is colly bird, an old English term for blackbird. (Calling bird was substituted in later.) Read more about the series here on my blog: http://mmmcrafts.blogspot.com/p/twelve-days.html

*A supplement pattern, Modern Numbering, is now available in my shop to easily re-number the patterns 9-12 to match the modern song, if you so prefer! (None other is needed, because the original and modern carol are numbered the same up through number 8, Maid a-Milking.)

The pattern PDFs will be available for INSTANT DOWNLOAD once your payment is completed! Etsy will send you an automatic email that includes your download links.

See the individual pattern listings of each ornament in my shop for specific details, sizes, and material lists, but this is the gist of what you'll need to make the series:
Wool or wool-blend felts
DMC flosses
Silver sewing thread
Poly or wool stuffing
Tacky Glue™ or similar fabric glue
Pellon® 70 Peltex®
Cotton pipe cleaners
20 mm/8 mm unfinished wood beads
Chenille stems
Gel pens or fabric markers
Printer (toner works better than ink)
Sulky® Printable Stick ‘n Stitch™
Dritz Fray Check™ or similar (optional)
Toothpicks
Small, sharp scissors
Size 5 embroidery needles
Hand sewing supplies like needles, pins, stuffing fork or dowel, ruler, good movies, coffee, etc...

HOW HARD ARE THESE TO MAKE? If you can do precision cutting, basic hand stitches (running stitch, whipstitch, backstitch and French knot) and are familiar with sewing and embroidery terms, then you can make this project and make it well!

HERE'S WHY: This series utilizes a Sulky brand water-soluble stabilizer which makes putting the ornaments together easy, fast and accurate. Simply print or copy the pattern to the stabilizer, adhere it to the felt, and embroider right on the lines.

NO TEDIOUS PATTERN TRACING OR EMBROIDERY TRANSFER. Fantastic! (If you can't use the Sulky stabilizer, I've also included instructions for that.)

These patterns are in PDF format on 8.5 x 11 paper, so you can print them from your regular printer at home on standard paper and stabilizer, as many times as you need for personal use.

NOTE: These decorations have small parts and may present a choking hazard. This is not an ornament project designed for children under the age of three.

COTTAGE INDUSTRY SELLERS: If you are a home sewer, yes, it is OK to make and sell items with your own clever hands from these patterns, as long as you credit me for the pattern. No mass production allowed. Please review: https://mmmcrafts.blogspot.com/p/selling-guide.html

I ordered the first three to see if I would like these ornaments, and I love them! The designs are beautiful, directions excellent, embroidery simple yet effective. The only change I’ve made is using three strands of floss instead of four. That works with a #8 crewel needle, which easily sews through the felt and stabilizer, and looks good. I’ve made the first two and am working on the French Hen now. Sticky Fabri-Solvy was new to me. It is wonderful to work with. I can see why these ornaments are so popular. I plan to make the whole set.

The patterns are extremely easy to follow and provided a lot of tips & tricks. This was my first hand embroidered project and it was not only a great tutorial, it also created such cute little ornaments.

An absolute delight. The instructions are gorgeous, just so clear and detailed, which leads to beautifully finished decorations. I really appreciated the little comedic moments in the instructions too - felt like a friend was guiding me through it.

Absolutely fabulous. I have made the first three and now ordered numbers 1-4. The patterns are easy to follow, with simple but effective stitching.
