Description

Carol Truax was a contributor to Gourmet Magazine and a prolific cookbook author . . . this cookbook
includes popular mid-century recipes for example, fondues. It also includes complete menus for casual and formal buffets. .  . and late night suppers.

Condition: Very Good tp Excellent. The book and binding are excellent, in as new condition, there are no marks, no tears - the book is clean.
The dust jacket is in very good condition- there is edge wear including small tears, otherwise there are no marks, nor stains.

Kirkus Review:
United Nations buffets for formal and semi-formal soirees -- those intimate little late-night suppers and sideboard brunches for the morning after. Armenian stuffed vine leaves, Czechoslovakian beer soup, and Japanese marinated raw fish for the intrepid hostess with more familiar items like Swedish meatballs and curries for gastronomical conservatives. Actually though, even the most exotic sounding dishes turn out to be composed of ingredients readily available at a well supplied supermarket, the more outre spices having been banished in the interest of getting the thing on the table. Cooking instructions tend to be terse and economical -- the author assumes some kitchen savvy and some commonsense and does not linger over the more mystical aspects of blending sauces or persuading souffles to rise. Cost will turn out to be moderate rather than shoe-string cheap and many dishes will s-t-r-e-t-c-h to accommodate unexpected extra guests.
