64 page paperback book, color covers and 10 color plates. Includes 12 patterns for pieced and appliqued quilts inspired by Indiana's 19th-century "Quilting Genius"; instructions for patterns and techniques included.

If you've mastered the basics of applique and are looking for a challenge, look way west of Baltimore, out in Indiana and draw your own inspiration from Susan McCord's bold quilts. Susan McCord (1829-1909) was one of the most innovative quiltmakers of the 19th century. Her body of work is in the collection of the Henry Ford Museum at Greenfield Village, Michigan. We are grateful the Museum is so generous with their images.

Susan McCord is our muse. Each of her quilts is based in tradition but she added her own flair. We've added our own 21st -century flair to her ideas. The basic pattern is our Shade Garden Sampler with nine unique blocks and a border drawn from McCord's work. We give you several small quilt designs based on those blocks and several using her pieced and appliqued vine designs, as well as a few classic pieced designs.

Barbara, Shauna, Deb and Karla self-published this book in 2004 through our Sunflower Pattern Co-operative. It's scarce and you can see it in on-line book sites for over $100. It's still in print, just hard to find. We are offering it at a price discounted from the original $24.
