If I am not for myself, who will be for me?
But when I am only for myself, what am I?
And if not now, when?
(Pirkei Avot 1:14)

This quote from Rabbi Hillel is one of the most cherished aphorisms in social-action and personal-growth contexts, as well as in Judaism generally.

My earliest version of this piece was a handmade version for my dad in 1994. I created a typographic version in 2001, but in 2015 I decided it was time for an update.

This piece is available in a color palette of either Black-and-White (especially striking when printed on colored paper) or Rainbow (where the Hebrew phrases are color-coded to the English translation).

All 11x14 frame options include matting. Wood frames with real glass are available in a light, dark, white or black finish. "Plexi" frame option (in white only) features PVC construction with a pane of clear polystyrene in place of glass - lighter weight and great for kids' rooms (budget-friendly too).

Frame styles pictured are representative; the frame you receive may not be identical.

Looking for a different size? Order the downloadable version in the Printables section of my shop (one purchase includes all three layouts in high resolution) and have it printed to any size you wish.
