Description

The 12mm glass gem which sits in this quality silver plated bangle contains a high resolution image of Venus and the round glass cabochon has a slightly magnifying effect which enhances the overall appearance. It is presented in a fine jewellery box and has a beautiful photo card with information of the planet on the reverse and is left blank on the inside for you to write your message or greeting.

Venus is the second planet from the Sun and was named after the Roman goddess of love and beauty. Venus is often called the Earth’s sister planet as they are very similar in size and both have a central core, a molten mantle and a crust. However Venus, unlike Earth has no natural satellites. A day on Venus lasts longer than a year: It takes 243 Earth days to rotate once on its axis. The planet’s orbit around the Sun takes 225 Earth days, compared to the Earth’s 365.
Although it was once thought it might be a tropical paradise, Venus is the hottest planet in our solar system: The average surface temperature is 462 °C, and because Venus does not tilt on its axis, there are no seasonal variations. The dense atmosphere of around 96.5 percent carbon dioxide traps heat and causes a greenhouse effect. An opaque layer of clouds made up of sulfuric acid obscures the surface of the planet. Atmospheric pressure on Venus is 92 times greater than the Earth’s: The pressure felt by a human on the surface would be equivalent to that experienced deep beneath the sea on our planet.

This range of jewellery has been designed using stunning images of deep space, courtesy of Nasa/JPL-Caltech, to celebrate Dark Sky Parks within the U.K. and around the world, and to encourage the preservation of our magical star filled night skies.

An International Dark Sky Park is an area of land that is recognised as having an exceptional or distinguished quality of starry nights and a nocturnal environment that is protected for its scientific, natural, educational, cultural heritage, and public enjoyment.

Please note that this range of jewellery is not guaranteed to be 100% waterproof and therefore should be removed before bathing.
