Baltic Birch, High Energy Photons

Are you interested in more than 2 players? Check out our new modular design here:

This is a kit of unfinished wooden parts for a tabletop MAME cabinet using Raspberry Pi. Get the TRUE arcade feel while you play all the classics on this compact emulator console.

..or go here for the new single player version!

Currently available in a beautiful 4.5mm Birch plywood, with a fabulous surface and a very lovely grain.

I built the first one of these just to do something with an unused Raspberry Pi, and everyone who played it loved it! After that, I cleaned it up and made a bunch of improvements to the final version you see here.

This is an open source project - so if you want to cut one of your own, go for it - the free (but non-commercial) plans are available on Thingiverse here:
This listing is for those who don't have the time or resources to make their own, or.. who want to support me, the designer. (thanks!)

Assembly instructions, and a description of the process are on instructables here.

This kit contains only the wooden parts, you will need to supply the guts. The usual setup is a Sanwa or HAPP hardware kit, and a raspberry pi.

Here is an example of a two player Sanwa hardware kit

The gentle angle mimics a real arcade experience on any countertop or table, and the reinforced ribs inside the box create a very sturdy and durable play surface. It's made from Baltic Birch, and looks beautiful in natural colors or stained.

The box is shown with a normal 20-button layout, with the joystick and 6 player buttons using the standard "sega1" layout from slagcoin. Drop me a line to inquire about a different layout or different number of buttons. Most layouts are easily workable, as long as there is room for the guts and wiring harnesses.

Assembly takes about an hour using standard wood glue, and installation/wiring of the electronics takes another hour. It's all quite easy, and can be completed in an evening or two or a Saturday.

The shipping weight is about 3lb, and your parts will be shipped as soon as they are cut! As with any laser-cut item - it smells like burnt wood! Give it a couple days in the garage to air out, or trust that any stain or sealer will kill the smell completely.
