Wearing History #3012- E-Pattern-Sporty Toppers- 1930s Hats
Size 22" Head

This listing is for an E-Pattern to print yourself at home on your home printer's USA letter and A4 sized paper.

Size - 22" Head

This "Resto-Vival" pattern is a delightfully whimsical addition to my line, this pattern is for five different fabric hats that can be made to match your ensemble. These hats are sporty, tailored, or quirky and are a fun base to use for your creative millinery work and can provide a fun base for your embroidery or trimmings.

View I is a tailored cap or beret that can be made in a solid color with contrast ribbons. Top-stitching can add interest on the seam lines. The separate pieces also look snappy when made in coordinating fabrics, as the top is cut in four different pieces.
View II is a smart pixie cap that can lace or button up the side. The pattern calls for hand made thread eyelets, but it can be equally adorable when using fun color eyelets for interest.
View III is a tailored hat that resembles a ladylike fedora. Playful ribbons create a bow in front for added interest.
View IV is a wide picture hat with button on straps, which is perfect for sun dresses, beach pajamas, or swimsuits.
View V is a very collegiate style cap constructed of straps and buttons that looks particularly smart when paired with a colorful scarf (scarf pattern not included).

- About Wearing History Resto-Vival™ Patterns -

Resto-Vival™ Patterns are original historic patterns that have been restored and revived. Original patterns are usually available only in single sizes, precut from tissue paper and totally unprinted, with details like grainlines and darts indicated only by small perforations. Resto-Vival™ patterns are clearly marked with drawn and labeled markings. These markings aid the modern sewer in understanding the markings of the original pattern and the construction of the garment. Resto-Vival™ patterns follow the period shapes of the original patterns, maintaining the historical accuracy of the completed garment. Original period instructions are included. These instructions are text only (unless otherwise noted) and fairly minimal, especially compared to instructions for modern patterns. At least an intermediate knowledge of dressmaking and a good familiarity with pattern construction is suggested. You may choose to have a modern or period sewing book handy to help with basic construction methods that the pattern instructions do not cover in detail. Also, fitting a muslin mockup is strongly recommended, as all garments were meant to be worn over period foundation garments or corsetry.

This pattern is formatted for USA Letter Size and A4 sized paper. You will need to print this pattern to 100% scale. Open the "READ-ME-FIRST" File for instructions on printing and piecing your pattern.

This pattern is tiled into letter sized paper. You will print these documents on your home printer, cut, and tape them together, to form a larger pattern layout. Then you cut and use your pattern just as you would a normal home sewing pattern. This pattern uses 25 sheets of paper for the pattern, 6 for the instruction pack, 1 for the e-pattern "how to" sheet. 32 total sheets of 8.5" x 11" sized paper or A4 sized paper. This pattern file is formatted to fit on both sizes of paper, and there will be varying thicknesses of white border, which will be cut off, according to pattern instructions.

Arrived in my inbox within seconds of ordering. Clear instructions (not made up hats yet, but based on past experience, will be well set-out and easy to print).

I recently made up one view of this pattern for a 1930s Hogwarts uniform. This view seemed confusing at first but all of a sudden it came together so amazingly — like magic ;) pattern was easy to tape together and Lauren adds some additional notes on the pattern pieces that help clarify the original instructions.
