Description

*** This pattern is in ENGLISH only.

Introducing my latest sewing pattern: a medium sized iPad messenger bag! This bag has tons of pockets: on the outside of the bag under the flap there are 2 slip pockets perfect for phones and smaller items as well as 2 pen slip pockets. Inside the bag are 2 large slip pockets, 1 zippered pocket and 1 padded pocket for an iPad or small tablet/reader.

The strap is adjustable so the bag can be worn across the body or over one shoulder. I recommend making this bag in heavier fabrics such as home decor, canvas, denim, faux leather however it can be made with quilt weight cotton if desired. This is a more structured bag that uses a stiffer sew-in interfacing.

This is my first pattern that uses piping as an accent around the edge of the flap. The flap has a swivel clasp closure like many of my other patterns. The pattern also includes instructions on how to sew your own adjustable strap although you are free to use webbing if you like.

SUPPLIES:

Exterior fabric:
1 yard of exterior fabric
Fat quarter of fabric for flap focus fabric

Lining fabric:
1 yard of lining fabric

Interfacing:
1.5 yards of lightweight fusible interfacing
2 yards of Pellon Peltex 70 sew-in interfacing (or
similar)
small piece of fusible fleece (13.5 in W x 8 in H)

Notions:
(1) 1.5 inch rectangle slide
(2) 1.5 rectangle rings
(1) swivel clasp for 1-inch strap
(1) 1-inch O-ring
(1) 8-inch zipper
(1) small piece of 1 in. W Velcro (2 in. long)
32 inches of piping

MEASUREMENTS:

Width: 12.5 inches (31.75 cm)
Height: 9.25 inches (23.5 cm)
Depth: just under 3 inches (7.62 cm)

SEWING EXPERIENCE: This project should be suitable for confident beginners. It is not a difficult sewing project but will take about 4 hours because of all the pockets to sew.

PDF Files are now available via instant download on Etsy once payment has been verified.

BULK DISCOUNT: Purchase at least $50 worth of patterns and enter BLUECALLA20 to receive 20% off at checkout.
