Description

Do you feel tired and run down? Are you anemic? Do you catch every cold that floats by your nose? In Chinese medicine Codonopsis (Dang shen) is first mentioned in texts from the 1600’s, making it a relative newcomer on the scene of a 4000 year old tradition. It is used as a tonic for people who are tired, deficient and weak. In this day and age of high stress living, many of us find ourselves matching that description at times.
Codonopsis is a lovely flowering vine that has been used to help people strengthen immunity, adapt to stress, improve digestion and blood sugar regulation and build red blood cells.

Codonopsis root provides a sweet, warm, spicy remedy. I have used root purchased from a reliable vendor here in my home state of Oregon, but endeavors to cultivate it myself are currently underway!

Energetically, Codonopsis is warming and moistening.

GENERAL ACCEPTABLE USAGE:
Take 40-80 drops in a small amount of juice or water three times daily, or as recommended by your personal physician.

GENERAL INSTRUCTIONS:
Shake well before each use.
Store in a cool, dark place. If stored properly, tinctures will keep for years.
Always consult your primary health care provider before taking any herbal preparation and to determine appropriate dosage.
Discontinue use immediately in case of adverse reaction.
KEEP OUT OF REACH OF CHILDREN!

CONTRAINDICATIONS:
Alway consult your doctor if you are pregnant.

ABOUT TINCTURE DOSING:
The recommended dosing on my various tinctures is based on a review of herbal literature and recommendations made by many top herbalists in this country and abroad. It is important, however, to keep in mind that every person is unique and will therefore interact with the plant medicine in a unique way. You may experience a desired effect at a much lower dosage or you may need a bit more than the recommended amount. I invite you to tune in to your body and notice what is needed and helpful.
I do not sell tinctures from plants that are considered "low dose" herbs, where more than a few drops could cause unpleasant effects. However, you should always immediately discontinue any herb that is having unwanted effects in your body.

GENERAL INFORMATION:
All my tinctures are made by me in small batches.

I obtain many of the herbs by growing them organically in my garden or wildcrafting them in a sustainable manner from the mountains and meadows near my Portland, Oregon home. I grow and harvest all plants and prepare all medicine in a prayerful and mindful manner. When wildcrafting, plants are always approached with a respectful prayer and a tobacco offering. I believe that in this way good relations are built and maintained between myself and the plants. This translates into a more powerful medicine and is my small contribution to the healing of the rift between Human and Earth.
If I find myself needing to buy an herb I only purchase certified organic herbs from reliable sources. I use only 100% organic 190 proof grain or cane alcohol in the tincturing process.
I list my tinctures in 1 oz quantities. Please contact me to arrange a larger quantity and discount pricing if available. Because of the small batch production larger quantities may be limited to supply on hand until the next harvest.

Etsy keeps your payment information secure. Etsy shops never receive your credit card information.
I accept credit card and Paypal through the Etsy website.

I will accept check and money order, but I would like to talk with you first and will not ship out product until payment has arrived.

If you wish to cancel an order after it has shipped, that is okay. Just message me and do not open the package at all when it arrives. You may be able to just refuse the package and not have to pay return postage. Any postage that is incurred will be your responsibility. Once I have received the package, I will issue you a full refund. I am not responsible for packages lost in the mail.

Returns & exchanges

I strive for a high quality product, so will happily refund you if your product arrives damaged or if you are unhappy with the quality of the medicine. If that is the case please message me and let me know in what way you are not happy with the quality of the product.

Sometimes we purchase an herbal product and it just does not work for us. This can happen as herbs are not a one size fits all proposition. I cannot accept return of or issue refunds for herbal product that just isn't giving you the desired results. When you decide you want to try an herb you are assuming responsibility for it maybe not working for you and your particular situation.

Shipping policies

I generally ship USPS First Class mail. At check out you will be offered numerous shipping options should you want something different.

My shop indicates shipment within 3-5 business days. I will often be able to ship much sooner than that, but leave myself that window because I am sometimes out in the mountains or away on other business. I do ship things out on Saturdays, even though that is not a "business" day.

If you order multiple items, I will do my best to pack them together which should decrease your shipping cost. I will refund you any shipping overages after your order has been shipped out.

I am new to international shipping. At checkout there should be automatic shipping calculations. Please message me with any concerns and I will do my best to figure it out.

LOCAL PORTLAND AREA FOLKS!!! If you want to come by and pick your product up directly from me and thus avoid shipping charges, enter coupon code PORTLANDPICKUP1 during checkout. Then message me to make arrangements for pick up.

Additional policies

I am happy to compound custom formulas for you, provided I have the required herbal tinctures in stock. If you are seeing an herbalist in your area and you have an herbal prescription you would like filled, message me and let me know what you are in need of.

Most of my tinctures are only listed in 1 oz. quantity. If you want larger volumes and are interested in discounted pricing, message me and we will work it out.

If you know that you will be requiring an herb over a longer period of time or you require a tincture I do not have listed, let me know. I am happy to prepare any tincture and add it to my inventory. If I have to purchase the herb I will only purchase organic herb from a very reliable vendor that endorses organic practices and sustainable harvesting.
