Description

Patchouli Essential Oil: Dark Aged

Patchouli Essential Oil – Indonesia Dark Aged

Pogostemon Cablin

NOTE: 100% Pure Authentic Patchouli Essential Oil - We NEVER add cheaper filler oils

An amber or dark orange viscous liquid with a sweet, rich, herbaceous-earthy fragrance (improves with age). It blends well with many other essential oils or is wonderful on its own.

Extraction Method:
Essential oil by steam distillation of the dried leaves (usually subjected to fermentation previously).

Why Aged?

Patchouli oil is considered to improve with age. This makes it unusual in that you can find many different colors and aroma profiles and if you don’t particularly care for the aroma of a certain distillation now, you may love it later.

Native to tropical Asia, especially Indonesia and the Philippines. It is extensively cultivated for its oil in its native regions as well as in India, China, Malaysia and South America.

Blends Well With:

Bergamot, black pepper, cedarwood, chamomile, cinnamon, clary sage, clove, coriander, frankincense, geranium, ginger, grapefruit, jasmine, lavender, lemongrass, litsea cubeba, mandarin, myrrh, neroli, oakmoss, opopanax, orange, rose, sandalwood, vetiver
I love the distinctive smell of patchouli oil and how amazing it blends with other oils to make unique combinations for soaps, bath salt, incense ect…

When mixing essential oils accurate measurement techniques are important.

Calculating the number of drops of liquid is never going to be an exact science. The Aromatherapy standard for drops is 20 drops per/ml of essential oil. However that number can vary slightly depending on the viscosity (thickness) of the oil.

One way to ensure a more accurate measurement is by using a graduated (marked) pipette/dropper in milliliters (mL). With a little practice, this is a very accurate and simple way of getting just the right amount of essential oil you need. FYI -- You can get some great deals on ebay for disposable pipettes in varying sizes.

Basic Conversions: These are approximations

1 Dram = 3.69 ml > 73 drops
1/4 oz. = 7.5 ml > 150 drops
1/2 oz. = 15 ml > 300 drops
1 oz. = 30 ml > 600 drops

Dilute – Dilute – Dilute !!!!!!!! ( Never apply undiluted essential oil directly on your skin) see warning below.

Diluting With Carrier Oils

Concentrated substances, including essential oils are rarely if ever intended for use “as is” . There is virtually never a time when you would not want to dilute the potency of any essential oil.

Diluting essential oils is simply done by adding a drop (or more) of the essential oil into your favorite carrier oil, such as jojoba oil, or incorporated into a finished product such as a massage oil, lotion, or aroma spray. This not only provides a good vehicle for the oil to absorb into the skin, but spreads the oil over a much larger surface area of your skin for a more beneficial effect.

When you are diluting essential oils or adding them to your favorite finished product, the essential oil content should only account for approximately 1 to 2% of the finished blend. Here is a breakdown of how much essential oil to add to 1 oz. of carrier oil or to a finished product.

These dilutions are for 1 oz (30ml) of pure essential oils and can easily be multiplied for larger batches or divided for a fraction of an ounce.

0.5 oz (15ml)

1% dilution: For 0.5 oz. (15ml) of carrier oil or finished product add 3 drops of pure essential oil.
2% dilution: For 0.5 oz. (15ml) of carrier oil or finished product add 6 drops of essential oil.

1 oz (30ml)

1% dilution: For 1 oz. (30ml) of carrier oil or finished product add 6 drops of pure essential oil.
2% dilution: For 1 oz. (30ml) of carrier oil or finished product add 12 drops of essential oil.

A 100% pure Carrier oil is a vegetable oil derived from the fatty portion of a plant, usually the nut, seed or kernels. These oils on their own can have different therapeutic and soothing properties. The choice of the carrier oil will depend on what recuperative benefit you are looking for. Carrier oils are critical element in the process diluting essential oils to a safe percentage before they are applied to the skin.

Children and Safety: Use extreme vigilance when using essential oils with children. Children should only come in contact with the gentlest oils at extremely low doses. It is safest to consult a qualified medical or aromatherapy practitioner before using oils with children. Keep ALL essential oils out of reach of children.

Do not take any oils internally and do not apply undiluted essential oils onto the skin without advanced essential oil knowledge or consultation from a qualified expert practitioner. If you are pregnant, epileptic, have liver damage, have cancer, or have any other medical problem, use oils only under the proper guidance of a qualified medical or aromatherapy practitioner.
