OOAK Art Interior Doll, Venetian carnival character, doll with mask.

The name "mattaccino" derives from the "matinees", Venetian carnival parties, enjoyed by good-for-nothing young nobles dressed as clowns who used slings to throw eggs filled with rose water towards strolling ladies. They were surrounded by crowds of egg sellers. "Mattaccini" wore lightweight clothes allowing agile movements, at time embellished by ruffs. Their outfit, often of strickenly bright colors, were rather bizarre and provocative. Flying cape, red hood and scary mask with long beaky nose gave them resemblance to rapacious birds.

My "mattaccino" is called Eduardo. He is an affected, rather insolent, guy in his middle forties. His smile looks like a grimace and the harsh voice sounds like dog's barking. He lives in his old shabby palazzo in Venice - all alone. Being a true Casanova in his youth Eduardo is now satiated with women and only the desperate female squeal following the accurate egg shooting fills his heart with joy and satisfaction.

Though Mattaccino is quite a tough and peculiar guy, he is not scary at all. His jokes and grimaces can do no harm and eggs are blown only in Eduardo's imagination. On the contrary his bullying temper can be of great use to you - you can share all your anger, sarcasm and displeasure with him - dolls are very good at neutralizing the negative energy. It will refill your soul with peace and good spirit.

Now let's examine the doll. Mattaccino's head, arms and legs are sculptured from the oven-baked clay. The face is painted with natural pigments and acrylic colors. The eyes are made of glass. The curls are natural sheep mohair. The body is soft and has a wired frame inside. Mattaccino Eduardo is fixed on the wooden stand. He is holding a long-nose mask in one hand, and the leather sling with egg - in the other hand. All his garment including cap is sewn by me. The size of the doll is 50 cm/ 20".

This doll is not a toy but an interior item. Please don't wash it. The face and hands can be wiped with a dry soft cloth.

Please feel free to ask me any questions you may have on this doll. I am happy to communicate.

Mattaccino EDUARDO and DREAM TRAIN OF DOLLS wish you good luck and a happy day!
