Measuring 4.3 in / 11 cm high (13 cm / 5 in. to the top end of the handle), by 3.5 in / 9 cm wide (13 cm / 5 in. with handle).

Food, dishwasher, microwave safe.
This mug is an unique piece of art. It is wheel thrown on a pottery wheel, then dried, bisque fired, glazed and fired for a second time. It is entirely handmade - from the preparation of the clay till the removing from the kiln.
These are very durable mugs, which can be used in the dishwasher or microwave without any problems.

Stoneware is a nonporous, nontranslucent pottery, that is fired at a high temperature. It is hard enough to resist scratching, but differs from porcelain, because it is more opaque.

In DankoHandmade we fire stoneware pottery twice to produce a better quality glaze finish. Bisque firing is around 900 °C, and glost firing (the firing used to form the glaze over the ware) - 1200 °C. Water absorption of stoneware products is less than 1 percent, which makes them safe to use in a dishwasher even with intensive programmes.

GREENWARE
When a piece of pottery has dried completely it is referred to as a piece of greenware. This means it has lost all water through evaporation and has no flexibility. Bending it will break it. You cannot add anything to it. You cannot carve anything from it. You cannot do anything to it except break it! This is purely a passive state for the clay awaiting the first firing.

This item was coming from Bulgaria so it took longer than an amazon order but soooo worth the wait. Totally unique! I ordered 3 and all were beautiful. Awesome sandy texture on the bottom that doesn’t wear away. The handle is a comfortable well placed grip. I bought the medium size but wish I’d gotten at least one big one for hot chocolate. I’ve ordered two more mugs, one with a cat and one with fish. Can’t wait to receive them!
