Description

I always loved the Big Little Books. I read them all and wish I had kept my collection but unfortunately I did not. When I ran across this book in a nearby antique store last weekend, I was thrilled. Not only because it is illustrated by Richard Scarry, but because I have never seen this storybook by Kathryn Jackson before. This is a rare find and my research has found this edition going for as much a $77! I'm pricing this to sell -- a great edition for your collection.

The back of the book states:

WINTER TALES

Wintertime with all its liveliness and excitement is delightfully described in these stories and poems. Kathryn Jackson has her readers coast down hills, make snowmen, ice skate, and wrap Christmas presents. Richard Scarry adds to the fun with his colorful illustrations.

This little book meaures 5" x 3-3/4" x 7/8". It is in very good vintage condition although there is light edgewear and the glossy paper covered boards and light peeling of the clear plastic coating on the edges of the spine. There are 245 clean, lightly tanned pages plus the contents and 3 pages listing other books in this series. This is book #6079 and is marked .59¢ on the upper right-hand corner of the cover. The front end paper has a handwritten message: To Scott for being a good boy. Love Mommy 12/8/68. The copyight page lists: Copyright 1955 by Western Publishing Co., Inc. All rights reserved. Printed in the USA. 1967 Edition.

The illustrations in this book are wonderfully whimsical; pics appear on most of the pages -- many are in full color but there are also black and white illustrations as well as several drawings in black and blue.

I have a second book (Springtime Tales) also by Kathryn Jackson and illustrated by Richard Scarry. Search our shop VeiledThroughTime.com to take a look. We're happy to combine shipping.

Please be sure to ENLARGE my photos for an up close and personal look. Just Let the pictures be your guide and I feel sure you won't be disappointed.
